Cannot log in to Kivra or 1177? Here is the fix

Kivra is Sweden's digital mailbox for post from authorities and companies, and 1177 is the national healthcare site. Both let you in only with an electronic ID, which in practice means BankID. So when the login will not go through, it is nearly always BankID or your browser that needs attention rather than the service itself. Most people are back in within five minutes.

Worth knowing before you start: nobody legitimate ever asks for your password, your BankID code or a verification code. Kivra, 1177, the healthcare service, your bank and Solvora never do. Never approve a BankID signing that you did not just start yourself, and hang up if someone calls and asks you to identify yourself while you talk.

Try this first

  1. Check that BankID works on its own. Open the BankID app. If you see your name in the list and can type your security code, BankID is fine. If not, that is what to fix first.
  2. Check that the phone has internet. Open any web page and see that it loads.
  3. Update the app you are logging in to. Kivra and 1177 are in the App Store on iPhone and in Google Play on Android. Search for the name and tap Update if the button is there.
  4. Restart the phone and try again.
  5. If you are logging in on a computer and scanning the QR code with your phone: make sure both the computer and the phone have internet. QR login needs both online at the same time, and the code changes every few seconds, so scan it as soon as it appears.

If the login just spins in the browser

  1. Try a private window. In Chrome and Edge it is called an Incognito window, in Safari a Private window, and you will find it in the menu with three dots or three lines. Old saved data is the most common reason a page loads forever.
  2. If that does not help, clear cookies and cache in the browser. Cookies are small files that sites save to remember you, and stale ones can block a fresh login.
  3. Try a different browser, for example Chrome if you were using Safari. If it works there, you know the first browser is what needs clearing.
  4. Try a different device. If it works on the phone but not the computer, the cause is in the computer.

Kivra

Open the Kivra app, or go to kivra.se and choose Logga in, then Mobilt BankID. The BankID app opens and you type your security code yourself.

If post you expected is missing, first check that the sender actually sends digitally, and that Kivra is the digital mailbox you have chosen. If you once signed up for a different one, the letter may be there instead.

1177

Go to 1177.se and choose Logga in at the top right. If you are asked for a region, pick the one you are registered in, because that decides which services you see. Then log in with BankID and type the code yourself.

Some services ask you to create an account inside 1177 first. Follow the prompt on screen, which appears after login and takes a minute.

If BankID works but the service still turns you away, or you need to sort out a proxy for a relative, ask us in the chat and we will go through it with you. If the question is about your health, call 1177 and speak to the healthcare service.

Common questions

Why is some of my post missing from Kivra?

Not every sender goes digital, and those that do send to whichever digital mailbox you have chosen. If you have signed up for more than one, the letter may be sitting in the other one. If you are expecting something from an authority, check on their own website whether they send digitally at all.

Why can I not see my test result on 1177 yet?

Each region publishes notes and test results with a different delay, and a few days is completely normal. If you need the result sooner, call the clinic that ordered the test. For medical questions, call 1177 and speak to a nurse.

Can I handle a family member's matters on 1177?

That needs a formal proxy or power of attorney, applied for separately, and it cannot be arranged at the login screen. For children under thirteen, a guardian normally sees the child's information straight after logging in with their own BankID.
